Malthus, Malthusians, and Neo-Malthusians

Malthus and his ideas have so fallen into disrepute and are so politically incorrect that it is difficult to find scholars and writers who cite him, much less openly proclaim themselves Malthusians. Typically we must look to his opponents, writers like Alexander Cockburn and Paul Athanasiou (see related articles: "Kaplan/Cockburn On the Coming Anarchy", "The Greens Stupid on Overpopulation" (Athanasiou) in DESIP's population section) who name and denounce such writers as Thomas F. Homer -Dixon, Robert D. Kaplan, and Lester Brown as Malthusians or Neo-Malthusians.

One of the goals of the society is to compile a list of authors who proudly or otherwise share an outlook that could reasonably be called Malthusian or Neo-Malthusian. In addition to the names already mentioned, I would add: Anne and Paul Ehrlich, Garret Hardin, Norman Myers, Michael Tobias (see my review of his book WWIII in DESIP) and Norman Myers. If you know of others, kindly submit their names for the list so that we can build a bibliography.
